Pool Equipment Maintenance & Tune-ups

Sarasota pool with serviced pump and filter equipment ready for a spring tune-up

Weekly service keeps the water clear, but pumps, filters, salt cells, and heaters need their own scheduled attention. A neglected pump bearing fails at 5 years; serviced, the same pump runs 10+.

We offer standalone equipment tune-ups twice a year for homeowners who do their own chemistry — and bundle it into the Gold and Platinum maintenance tiers for those who don't want to think about it.

Twice-yearly schedule for Florida pools

Spring + Fall Tune-ups

Before Peak Summer
Pre-season tune so equipment handles daily heavy use without breaking down.
Before Winter Freeze Risk
Protect pumps and heaters from rare but damaging Florida freeze events.

What's Included in a Tune-up

  • Pump motor inspection — bearings, seals, amp draw, voltage
  • Filter deep-clean — cartridge soak, sand backwash, DE media replacement
  • Salt cell descaling and output verification
  • Heater service — pilot, gas pressure, heat exchanger, freeze-protect logic
  • Valve actuator calibration and o-ring/lubricant refresh
  • Automation firmware update & schedule tune (variable-speed run times)

When to Schedule

Twice a year is the sweet spot for Florida pools — once before peak summer use, once before any winter freeze risk. A spring tune-up catches what nine months of daily filtration wore down; a fall tune-up resets things before the rare but real freeze events that crack pumps.

Push the next visit up if your pump is loud, your filter pressure runs more than 8 psi above clean, or your salt cell is older than 3 years. Those three signals usually mean a small repair now or a bigger replacement later — your choice.

Professional Pool Inspections in Sarasota

Well-built Sarasota pool of the type Big Blu inspects before purchase or insurance review

Buying a home with a pool? Selling one? Getting an unbiased inspection before money changes hands is the cheapest insurance you'll buy.

We inspect every system — structure, plumbing, electrical, safety equipment, and equipment age — and deliver a written report with photos, recommended repairs, and a realistic cost estimate. Inspections take roughly 90 minutes and the report is delivered the same day.

What We Inspect

  • Shell, coping, tile, deck — cracks, settling, hollow spots
  • Plumbing — pressure test on suction and return lines, leak indicators
  • Equipment age, condition, and estimated remaining life (pump, filter, heater, salt cell)
  • Electrical — bonding, GFCI protection, light niches, equipment pad wiring
  • Safety — VGB-compliant main drain covers, barrier compliance, alarms
  • Written report with photos, prioritized repair list, and cost estimates

When You Need One

Most homeowners call us in one of four moments — before closing on a home with a pool, before listing one for sale, after a hurricane or major flood, or when their insurance carrier asks for documentation. In all four, the written report changes the conversation: you get real numbers on paper before money moves.

Beyond those triggers, an inspection every 5–7 years makes sense on any pool older than 15. Hairline cracks, slow plumbing leaks, and aging electrical bonding rarely fail dramatically — they fail slowly, and the bill grows fast once they do. Find them now, plan the fix, avoid the emergency.

Maintenance FAQ

Our weekly service includes chemical testing and balancing, emptying all baskets, skimming debris, brushing walls and tiles, and a comprehensive equipment inspection to ensure everything is running at peak efficiency.
Yes, all standard maintenance chemicals (chlorine, acid, soda ash, etc.) are included in your monthly flat-rate plan. There are no extra charges for the chemicals we use during our weekly visits.
We recommend a deep filter cleaning every 3 to 6 months depending on usage and surrounding landscaping. Our Platinum plan include quarterly filter cleanings automatically.
In Florida, rain is common. We still come out for chemical testing and debris removal during light rain. In case of lightning or severe storms, we will reschedule for the next safe opportunity.
Yes, our maintenance clients receive priority scheduling for any emergency repairs, equipment failures, or leaks. We're here for you whenever your pool needs urgent attention.
No, we believe in earning your business every week. Our service is month-to-month, and you can pause or cancel at any time with a 30-day notice.
